"The Sanhedrin of Paris" was the name of an assembly of the Jewish rabbis in France, which was established at the initiative of Napoleon Bonaparte with the aim of increasing the supervision of the Jews in his empire, but also to gain their sympathy.
Front: Napoleon’s portrait and the inscription "Napoleon Emp. Et Roii" (Napoleon – Emperor and King).
Back: Napoleon holds the Tablets of the Covenant and presents them to Moses (who is kneeling before him, with horns on his head). At the bottom is the inscription "Grand Sanhedrin XXX Mai MDCCCVI" On May 30, 1806, Napoleon summoned the assembly of dignitaries of the Jewish community.
