Noda BiYehuda – Berdichev, 1812 – Gloss, Dedication and Signature of the Disciples of the "Ketav Spfer" of Pressburg
Nodah BiYehuda, by Rabbi Yecheskel Segal Landau. Berditchev, 1812.
On the leaf preceding the title page, a fine and interesting dedication "A gift of love to … my beloved friend … the Torah scholar Eliezer of Nádas … Rosh Chodesh Elul 1849, Pressburg, Moshe Ber Shen of Shosburg".
On the same page, an inscription about the purchase of the book in 1848 handwritten by Rabbu Moshe of Shosburg. On leaf 49/2 a scholarly gloss presumably handwritten by Rabbi Eliezer Weinberg of Nádas who received the book.
The Gaon Rabbi Moshe Ber Shen of Shusburg, a leading disciple of Rabbi Yehuda Assad, with whom he corresponded and who called him "my beloved, old disciple" and of the "Ketav Sofer". One of the rabbis of Vienna. Served as Dayan and Motz (since 1854) in Kremesh and since 1862 in Wieden. Proofread the book Akedat Yitzchak (Pressburg, 1849). (The Chatam Sofer and His Disciples, p. 526).
The receiver of the book, Rabbi Eliezer Weinberg of Nádas (1825-1905) was also a disciple of the "Ketav Sofer" and of Rabbi Yehuda Assad. He married the daughter of Rabbi Yitzchak Isaac Ernst of Pressburg. In 1867 became Av Beit Din of Kata and since approx. 1879, served as Av Beit Din of Jemring and since 1880, Rosh Beit Din of Nyitria. Established the "Chevrat Shas" in Nyitria and taught there Torah for twenty five years.
