New Year’s Greeting Card. Silk Embroidery. Germany ~1890.
Greeting Card with Hebrew: לשנה טובה תכתבו, hand-embroidered with silk threads. Germany, ~1890. Size: 14×9 cm. Thin, delicate flax cloth hand-embroidered with colorful silk: לשנה טובה תכתבי, a Star of David, and colorful flowers. Cloth attached to stylized cardboard and glued to a postcard. Made in France is printed on the postcard, but the embroidery was done in Germany at the end of the 19th century, according to information received from the family of the producers in Germany. Fine-very fine condition.
