[3] Books Signed by Disciples of the Chatam Sofer and his Study Hall

* Shoshanat HaAmakim al Klalei HaTalmud by Rabbi Yosef Teomim, author of Pri Megadim. Warsaw, 1902?

This edition does not indicate year of print, and does not appear on the Vinograd CD nor in the National Library's collection.

Owner's stamp and signature in the hand of Rabbi Moshe Eliezer Donatah.

Rabbi Moshe Eliezer Donatah [1898-1940] was born in Pressburg to his father Rabbi Shmuel Donatah, head of the Pressburg institutions. He studied under the author of Da'at Sofer. He served as Av Beit Din of Topoltshen and Neustadt, and beginning in 1933 succeeded his father in Pressburg. He authored Devorei Emet (Bardyev, 1931) and Ohel Moshe (Bardyev, 1935). He was killed in sanctification of G-d's name during the Holocaust.

* Shefa Tal L'Brachah. Warsaw, 1870. Deep work on kabbalah by Rabbi Shabtai Sheftel son of the holy Rabbi Akiva Ish Horowitz of Prague, with many pictures and kabbalistic diagrams.

"Hanau" appears on the title page, with the year detail 1612, taken from the first edition. Apparently actually printed in Warsaw in 1870.

Rabbi Shalom Kutna's owner's notation at the top of the title page "שייך לאדמו"ר הגאון כ"ר שלום... קוטנא"

The gaon Rabbi Shalom Kutna [1826-1909] was the Av Beit Din of Eisenstadt. He was a disciple of the Ktav Sofer and of Rabbi Avraham Ullman of Lackenbach. He authored Ateret Shalom V'Emet and more.

* Da'at U'Mezimah on Sha"s and Shulchan Aruch by the gaon Rabbi Meshulem Zalman Lorberbaum, Av Beit Din of Zolkiew and grandson of Rabbi Ya'akov Lorberbaum of Lissa, author of Netivot Mishpat and Chavat Da'at. Lemberg, 1902. Only edition. Pedigree copy.

Several owner's stamps of the gaon "Rabbi Avraham Lorberbaum, Rosh Av Beit Din of Zolkiew." Owner's stamp of the gaon "Rabbi Avraham Shmuel Binyamin Shpitzer, Av Beit Din of Hamburg."
The Lorberbaum family was one of the privileged families in which the Torah was transmitted from one to another without interruption. Starting from the "Chacham Tzvi," his son Rabbi Nattan, his son Rabbi Ya'akov Moshe Lorberbaum, father of the author of the Netivot, (for whom the name Ya'akov was added due to an illness, like his son's name, the author of Netivot), and author of Netivot HaMishpat's son - Rabbi Mordechai Yehudah [Leib] Lorberbaum, who ascended to the Land of Israel and settled in Safed. His son Rabbi Meshulem Zalman authored this book, Da'at U'Mezimah, and his son is Rabbi Avraham, Av Beit Din of Zolkiew, whose stamps are displayed on the leaves of the book before us.

Rabbi Avraham Shmuel Binyamin Shpitzer [1872-1934] was born during the week of shivah for the Ktav Sofer ztz"l, and he was named after him. He was a disciple of the author of Shevet Sofer. He served as rabbi of Mishkoltz, Hungary, and then as rabbi of Hamburg, Germany, for 23 years. He was one of the leading Orthodox rabbis and chairman of Agudat Yisrael in Germany. He kept in close contact with the rabbinic leaders in Lithuania, the Chafetz Chaim and Rabbi Chaim Ozer Grodzinsky at their head.

Various sizes. Overall fine condition.
