'Seder Rav Amram Gaon' is a prayer book compiled by Rav Amram Gaon in the ninth century, making it one of the earliest Jewish prayer orders.

The copy before us was gifted by the *Kolel Shomrei Hachomot* to its president, Rabbi Akiva Sofer.

Luxurious leather binding with gold embossing, inscribed: *Minkhat Zikaron* from our *Kolel Shomrei Hachomot* in Jerusalem to the esteemed Rabbi Akiva Sofer, may he live a long and good life, Rosh Yeshiva and Dayan of the holy community of Pressburg.

Rabbi Akiva Sofer (1878–1960) was the last rabbi of Pressburg and the fourth link in the illustrious Pressburg rabbinical dynasty, following the *Chatam Sofer*, his son the *Ketav Sofer*, and grandson the *Shevet Sofer*. As the leader of Hungarian Orthodoxy, Rabbi Akiva Sofer served as the president of the *Orthodox Rabbinical Council*, representing over 300 Orthodox communities in Hungary, as well as president of the *Council of Ultra-Orthodox Rabbis in Czechoslovakia*.

Even in the Land of Israel, he maintained significant influence, serving as president of the *Kolel Shomrei Hachomot* and *Batei Ungarin* in Jerusalem. Upon immigrating to Israel, he humbly declared, "At this moment, I am casting into the sea all the honor and importance I had abroad. From now on, I wish to be a simple Jerusalemite Jew." Despite his wishes, Hungarian immigrants continued to hold him in high esteem, and he became one of the leading rabbis of Jerusalem. He reestablished the *Pressburg Yeshiva* and, as a member of the *Moetzet Gedolei HaTorah*, was involved in public matters and a leading signatory on rabbinical proclamations and approbations for books.

Among his distinguished students was Rabbi Shmuel Halevi Wosner. His works include *Shu”t Da’at Sofer* on the four sections of Shulchan Aruch and *Da’at Sofer* on the Torah and festivals.
