Very lengthy letter of Torah novellae [two large pages, over 1250 words], entirely handwritten and signed by the sacred gaon Rabbi Moshe Chaim Greenfeld, av beit din of Szentpéter, one of the leading rabbis and disseminators of Torah in pre-Holocaust Hungary. The letter was sent to the renowned gaon Rabbi Shimshon Altman, av beit din of Paks, with his uncertainties presented therein. Szentpéter, 1928. Printed in his sefer Shu"t Chaim BiRetzono (Jerusalem, 1982) siman 51.
The Admo"r of Erlau ztzk"l, who knew the gaon Rabbi Moshe Chaim Greenfeld from before the Holocaust, writes about him: "One of the leading rabbis and disseminators of Torah and fear of Heaven in the State of Hager, he is the man who was famed for his Torah greatness ... A rabbi like a Heavenly angel, to whom disciples flocked from all around ... Running to seek Torah ... I heard from the author of Shu"t Yad Sofer that a certain rabbi was admired across the entire region ... I asked who I should appeal to with my uncertainties ... He told me to turn to the tzaddik of Szentpéter ... And every time his arrived at my home, the house was filled with light."
