"May Hashem repay [you] as [you] deserve, and may [you] find peace"
Rare and beautiful letter entirely handwritten and signed by the gaon Rabbi Avraham Yitzchak HaKohen Kook - first chief rabbi of the Land of Israel. The gaon Rabbi Aharon Mendel HaKohen, av beit din of Cairo, known for his revolutionary initiative to renew the Sanhedrin, joins this letter. Jerusalem, 1922.
The letter is addressed to "HaRav HaGaon Mohar"a HaKohen, " which apparently refers to the gaon Rabbi Aharon HaKohen Oransky, z"l, rabbi of Petach Tikvah, who Rabbi Kook would refer to in his letters as Mohar"a HaKohen. [See, for example, Iggerot Haraya"ah Part I, iggeret 123, Adar 1938: To my dear friend, Mohar"a HaKohen, shlit"a, peace and blessings]. In his letter, the "av beit din of Jerusalem" Rabbi Avraham Yitzchak Kook, and the av beit din of Cairo together with him, requests from the av beit din of Petach Tikvah to assist with the hospitalization of a lonely Jew suffering from lung disease so that he may recover - to save his life.
The letter was written on rare stationery with the title "Av Beit Din of Jerusalem, " a position held by Rabbi Avraham Yitzchak HaKohen Kook for a period of only about two years [1919-1921], until his appointment as the first chief rabbi of the Land of Israel.
