Spice tower. Hallmarked silver. Mappin & Webb. Birmingham, England 1934. Height: 18.5 cm. Diameter: 6 cm. This spice tower was use to radiate a pleasant aroma in the homes of gentiles, and the Jews used it for havdala. The bottom section serves as a jug to hold the spices. The upper section is a cover: perforated with boring work of floral and leaf designs. Light dent to the bottom section and cover. Fine condition. The Mappin & Webb silver company was established in 1775 to provide quality silver pieces to the English aristocracy. Due to the high quality of its products, the company provided silver pieces to the monarchies of England, France and even Japan.
