Circumcision Case. Sliver Filigree with Circumcision Tools. Western Europe, Early 19th Century

Stunning circumcision case owned by a family of mohalim in Holland for over a century and used to circumcise hundreds of Jewish children.

Silver case with delicate filigree designs on all sides.

Rectangular hinged lid with double filigree decorations and a clasp. The lid itself opens on the hinge and is supported by two delicate silver chains.

The case comes with its original (and functional) silver key. Two elliptical handles on either side of the case for lifting the case. Four fish-shaped pedestals on each corner.

Length: 18 cm. Width: 14 cm. Height: 14 cm. Height of open case: 22 cm.

The case comes with circumcision accessories used by the family.

* Small silver bottle with a cap, to store alcohol

* Round silver case with a lid to bury the foreskin.

* Silver "finger" shaped like a fingernail for periyah

* Small glass and silver bottle with a cap to store the powder for disinfection and coagulation.

* Tiny case for a glass test tube for metzitzah.

In addition, a leather sheath with two milah knives and a metal 'separator' to separate the inner skin and the crown.

Museum item of rare and rich Jewish history!

The case is in fine-very fine condition with minimal dents and small breaks in the filigree in isolated places.
