Album of Approximately 35 Photographs from the Tiferet Yisrael Yeshivah in Haifah
Photo album of the Tiferet Yisrael yeshivah in Haifah, including pictures of the rashei yeshivah and its rabbis, and its students beside the yeshivah building.
The album contains 35 pictures.
The Tiferet Yisrael yeshivah was the first Chareidi yeshivah established in the New Yishuv.
The head of the yeshivah and its founder was Rabbi Dov Meir Robman, an alumnus of the "Talmud Torah" in Kelm. He had served previously as rosh yeshivah of Ohr Torah in Vilkomir, Lithuania. The yeshivah staff was made up of rabbis who were alumni of the Lithuanian-style yeshivahs in Europe who ascended to the Land of Israel; some had served as rashei yeshivah in Europe.
The yeshivah was established in 1925. During this period, apart from the yeshivahs of the old Yishuv, not a single yeshivah was founded outside of the four sacred cities. Outside Jerusalem, there was only one yeshivah founded in Lithuania that came to the Land of Israel - the Knesset Yisrael yeshivah in Chevron. The yeshiva's founder, Rabbi Chaim Dov Meir Robman, served as a rosh yeshivah in Europe. He immigrated to the Land of Israel and strove to establish a Lithuanian-style yeshivah in the new settlement, and upon arriving in Haifah began implementing his plans.
More material attached about the yeshivah's history.
Leather-covered album, with a relief of Rachel's tomb and a lace for tying. Approximately 17x10 cm.
