Chanukah Menorah - Kaftor VaFerach. Germany, 19th Century
Large spectacular Chanukah menorah in the kaftor vaferach model. Germany, 19th century.
Cast brass.
Branch in the shape of a pair of raised hands, open to the branches, in the center. The branches then curl upward, on hinges attached to the center in a way that allows them to be adjusted to the desired angle, with a range of 360 degrees. All the branches are decorated along their entire lengths with kaftor vaferach decorations. The shape of the branches and the decorations resemble a growing plant. The branches are removable. The menorah stands on a round base supported by three legs in the image of open-mouthed fish. The branch used as a shamash faces the other branches at a distance of 13 cm, in a half-circle facing upwards, like the other branches.
Height: 44 cm. Width: 41 cm. Stains. Fine condition.
