Rabbi Chaim Sofer (1822-1886) one of the foremost disciples of the Chatam Sofer and one of the leaders of Hungarian Jewry in his time, a genius and pious man, a steadfast warrior against the enlightenment and one of the leading responders to halachic questions in Hugary of that time. Born in Pressburg and circumcised on Yom Kippur by his Rabbi the Chatam Sofer. He began studying in the Chatam Sofer's yeshiva at the age of 11 and had an extremely close relationship with him until his death.
