Siberia. Poem by Abraham Sutzkever. With seven attractive, original illustrations by his friend Marc Chagall. Illustration on title page and binding. Black and white. Jerusalem 1953. Noted poem written in Vilna [1937].Chagall created these works specifically for this poem in [1950] and it was printed three years later. Signed in the plate. Inscribed by the author, Abraham Sutzkever, in June, 1953. Yiddish. 34 cm. [25] leaves. Thick paper. Minimal aging stains. Original binding. Rubbed at the edges. Cloth spine. Very fine condition Abraham Sutzkever was a prominent Yiddish poet of our time. He was a recipient of the Israel Prize and editor of the literary journal “Di Goldene Keyt”. Especially rare.
