Sha'arei Tziyun - Kabbalistic Prayers. Among the First Sefarim from Zhitomir. Pedigree Copy

Sefer Sha'arei Tziyun - Kabbalistic prayers and rectifications per the Ar"i, authored by Kabbalist Nathan Nota Hanover. Shapira Press, Zhitomir, 1848. Important prayer book printed in approximately 200 editions. This is a rare and hard-to-find Chassidic edition - the first edition printed at the sacred Shapira press (more editions were printed later).

This edition is the first of the Sha'arei Tziyun editions printed at the sacred Shapira press in Zhitomir, run by the Admo"rim of Slavuta, the sons and grandsons  of Rabbi Pinchas of Koritz. Leading Admo"rim were known to have preferred praying from sefarim produced at the Slavuta and Zhitomir presses, known as a segulah for prayers to be willingly fulfilled.

The book includes the Kabbalistic prayers Tikkun Chatzot, Tikkun HaNefesh, Tikkunei Tefillot, Tikkun Kriyat HaTorah, Tikkun Kriyat Shema al HaMittah, Tikkun Erev Rosh Chodesh, Tikkun 7 B'Adar, Tikkun Seder Malkot and Hatarat Nedarim with Seder Tefillat HaDerech, Tikkun Seudah, Sefer Yetzirah, Tikkun Shloshah Mishmarot, Tefillah L'Atzirat Geshamim and Seder Pidyon Nefesh.

Difficult-to-decipher antique signature at the top of the title page: 'A"h Ya'akov Yitzchak ..." On the front flyleaf, there is another, later, signature: "Yehoshua Heschel Haltovsky, Jerusalem, Meah She'arim." This is the renowned Karliner gaon and rosh yeshivah of Karlin, grandson and great-grandson of the Rebbe R' Aharon HaGadol of Karlin, and son-in-law of Rabbi Yisrael of Ostrawa. His grandson is the present Admo"r of Pinsk-Karlin. There are several additional signatures, all crossed out.
