First edition of the noted work of the Ben Ish Chai, leader of Iraqi Jewry.
Leaf 15 of the first section bears a handwritten note by Rabbi Ovadya Yosef. Rabbi Ovadya Yosef followed the Shulchan Aruch even in relation to issues where Iraqi Jews generally followed a different ruling, like the Ben Ish Chai. In his youth, Rav Ovadya Yosef's disagreement with the Ben Ish Chai caused polemic discussion. However, Rabbi Ezra Attiya encouraged him to continue ruling per his understanding. In his older age, Rabbi Ovadya Yosef printed his "Halichos Olam" works with comments on the "Ben Ish Chai".
Simple binding. Restored tears in the blank margins of the title page and following leaf. Moderate condition.
