HeAruch HeChadash - Copy that Belonged to the Admo"r of Radzyn, the "Ba'al HaTecheilet"
HaMashbir or HeAruch HeChadash is a large and important elucidation of words in the Talmuds and midrashim, similar to the Sefer HeAruch, with an elucidation in German by Rabbi Yosef Sheinhoch. Warsaw, 1858. Two parts with separate title pages. With Sefer Miluim or HaMashbir HeChadash, additions and supplements to Sefer HaMashbir by the author. Warsaw, 1869. Interesting work that earned important approbations.
The Admo"r Rabbi Gershon Chanoch Henich Leiner's stamp is displayed at the top of the title page. He was one of the leading Admo"rim of his generation - known by the moniker 'Ba'al HaTecheilet.' It is his early stamp, from when his father, of Izbitza, was still alive. The stamp reads: "Gershon Chanoch Henich b'HaRav HaGaon HaKadosh M'Izbitza, shlit"a." Page 61a of the second pagination bears a one-word gloss.
Throughout the book, there are many hard-to-decipher rabbinic signatures, primarily, but not exclusively, on the many title pages.
The Radzyner Rebbe was known to have shaken up his generation both by his discovery of techeilet, which was hidden for thousands of years, and also by his revolutionary works Gemara Kodshim and Mei HaShiloch published from his grandfather (from Izbizta)'s Torah thoughts (including those thoughts that were torn out of many copies - refer to the comment in the Hebrew text). Due to his efforts to discover and identify the techeilet fish, the Admo"r had connections with various scientists, and he even authored semi-scientific books on the topic. There is no doubt that HeAruch HeChadash was of great assistance in his research, especially its second part, which contains various foreign terms that were certainly necessary for the Rebbe - who never studied languages or science - for the purposes of his research.
Refer to the Hebrew catalog text for a brief biography of the Admo"r Rabbi Gershon Chanoch Henich Leiner.
