Postcard written during the Holocaust era by the director of the Radin Yeshiva in Vilna, sent to Australia, 1940.
[1] postcard. 10.5x15 cm. Written and signed by Rabbi Eliezer Zev Kaplan, director of the Radin Yeshiva. The rabbi discusses the yeshiva's sorry state and asks for "kimcha d'Pischa."In the summer of 1941, a year after this postcard was written, the city was recaptured by the German Wehrmacht and more than 35,000 Jews, including many rabbis and yeshiva students, were killed by the Nazis with the help of local residents.
