הרב שלמה סובל (תרס"א - תש"ל) נולד בדווינסק שבלטביה, בבחרותו עלה לארץ ישראל והתיישב בירושלים. בהיותו בן 18 נישא לבתו של רבי בן ציון ידלר הוא ניהל התכתבות תורנית ענפה עם שני רבנים בולטים בדורו - רבי יוסף רוזין ("הרוגוטשובר") ורבי יוסף חיים זוננפלד. וכן חיבר כמה ספרים משלו, ופרסם את תוכן התכתבותו עמם.
