Rabbi Aharon Shmuel Kaidenover, known as the Rosh Yeshiva (5384-5436), was a disciple of Rabbi Yaakov of Lublin and after his death with R. Herschel of Cracow. He served as rabbi in the town of Mikolov (Nikelsburg) in Moravia, then in Glogau (Silesia), and in Fjorda (Bavaria - Germany) (939), the German Central Committee (the German SSD) and finally in Krakow (Poland).
He was a judge at the rabbinical court of Rabbi Moshe Lima, author of the book "Chelkat Machloket" on Shulchan Aruch Even HaEzer, together with Rabbi Efraim HaCohen, author of Sha'ar Efrayim and the Sha"ch.
At the time of the decrees of Ta"ch and Ta"t he was forced to leave his place and fled with his family to Vienna. However, due to the Polish-Swedish war of 5415, the riots did not skip him, and the Cossacks murdered his two daughters and lost most of his writings He remained destitute and crippled with both feet. His only surviving son is Rabbi Zvi Hirsch Kaidenover, author of the book, Kav HaYashar.
He was known for his greatness, and his short method of writing was appreciated by the scholars of his generation and later.
The Chid"a wrote: "Tusia has increased his true insights and innovations in a short and kosher way."
The Ya'avetz testified that Rabbi Aharon Shmuel knew all four columns and the Beit Yosef by heart.
His glosses on the Rosh, and his objections to the Maharsha, were printed within the Sha"s.
Rabbi Shabtai Buchbut (1870-1948) was the Av Beit Din in Jaffa, the rabbi of the Jewish community in Kielce, the chief rabbi of Aleppo in Syria, and later the chief rabbi of Lebanese Jewry.
