The Ga'on Rabbi Eliezer Sussman Sofer (5588-5663, the Chatam Sofer and his Disciples, page 63-65), one of the greatest rabbis of Hungary. Was circumcised on the knees of the Chatam Sofer and even learned to study with him for a short time in his final years. After the death of the Chatam Sofer, he continued to study with his son the Ktav Sofer, and afterwards he was also the disciple of the Maharam Schick. After his marriage, he moved to Peking with his father-in-law Rabbi Yoel Unger, Av Beit Din of the city, where he was appointed Dayan and Magid Misharim, and was appointed Rabbi of Halash. Because of his admiration for the writings of rabbis from the nearby towns of Halash, Adiyaz and Sabad-Salash agreed that in addition to his rabbinate in Halash, his name would also be given to them, provided that he would visit them regularly and deliver his sermons in their city. In 1886, after the death of his father-in-law, he took up his place in the Rabbinate of Paksh, where the cities of the Halash region remained faithful to him even though the distance grew between them.
