Rav Yehoshua Heschel Levine (1818-1883) was a descendant of the Maharsha. He was a rebbe in the Volozhin Yeshivah, av"d in Prague and then succeeded Rav Yisroel Salanter as rav of the Russian community in Paris.
He authored and published seforim, the most prominent being the
Aliyos Eliyahu about the Vilna Gaon.
