Pages - Map of Syria and Palestine
This first edition engraving is from Pierre Marie François de Pages's Voyages autour du Monde, et vers les deux Poles, par terre et par mer, pendant les Années 1767-76.. The work was published in Paris by Moutard in 1782.

The work described the three expeditions, Henze wrote of Pages voyages "the first voyage (1767-71) took him westward (via Texas, Mexico, the Pacific, the Philippines, India and the Orient) around the world; the second (1773-74) [...] the second Expedition of Kerguelen-Trémarec, whose name he withholds, to the Kerguelen; the third (1776) on a Dutch whaler into the Spitsbergen waters." Cox wrote that "The first voyage contains an account of de Pagès journey from France to New Orleans, and a long relation of his journey through Louisiana up the Mississippi, along the Red River, and up to the Nachitiches, with his stay in that place. His journey across Texas to San Antonio. His visit to the Adaisse Indians on to Acapulco. From here the author sails to Guam, the Philippines, and back to France."

The work is in very good to excellent condition overall. There may be a few minor imperfections to be expected with age. Please review the image carefully for condition and contact us with any questions.
