A beautiful item for lovers of animals and animal illustrations from the 19th century. Nine volumes (originally: ten), divided into subjects such as birds, mammals, reptiles, fish, insects, etc. Each volume has hundreds of illustrations in the text, as well as full-sized color plates. In total there are thousands of illustrations, of which there are hundreds of color plates. The volumes also include dozens of maps. Original leather bindings with gold inscriptions in the spine.
German, 26X18 cm. Most of the volumes are in good general condition and well preserved, six of them are missing the cover's spine or parts of it. Here and there a page is detached. One of the volumes has damage and tears in the cover.
