Megillas Esther, with an additional parchment with a prayer before reading the Megillah, the blessings on the Megillah, and the liturgy “Harav Et Riveinu”. Ink on parchment. Bulgaria, 19th century.

✵ Megillas Esther, mounted on a decorated handle, ink on parchment (Bulgaria).
17 columns on 5 sheets of parchment. 25 lines per column. Sephardic script with the “ח” as per Rashi’s rulings. The letters have unique characteristics that are appropriate for the Balkans, most likely the area of ​​Sofia, Bulgaria.
Parchment height: 26cm, Overall height including the handle: 44cm. Red velvet triangle sewn to the edge at the beginning with two laces for tying up the scroll.
Stains. Missing words were filled in with writing between the lines in two places. Fair-good condition.

9x37cm. The prayer written here is found in Sefer Chemdas Yamim (Purim, Ch. 3, §44).
