The foundational work Shnei Luchot HaBrit (Shlah), a cornerstone of Judaism in general and Chassidic thought in particular, contains Torah insights, ethical teachings, and more. vol. I.

Printed in Zhytomyr in 1857 by the holy Shapira brothers, grandsons of the renowned Rabbi of Slavuta.

The title page describes the book with the following words:

"Pure sayings, more precious than pearls, a composition on both Torahs, the Written and the Oral, transmitted from Sinai, arranged and organized by the mighty one in strength, a divine man, a holy luminary, master of the Land of Israel, the complete sage in all virtues and wisdom, both revealed and hidden, the gaon whose radiant Torah light spread across all the exiles, from one end of the world to the other – the honorable Rabbi Yeshayahu, son of Rabbi Avraham HaLevi Horowitz, of the esteemed Horowitz family, who rests in holiness in the sacred land."
