Discovery – rare and unknown edition! Sefer Hachayim, prayers and all dealings with the sick and the departed. Hebrew and Yiddish. Sulzbach, 1733. Third edition.

Sefer Hachaim. I: Hebrew, II: Yiddish, detailing all topics of mourning, with additions of prayers, supplications, and beseechings at the cemetery. Zalman, son of Aharon press, Sulzbach, 1733. Extremely rare edition.

Owner’s signature “Seligman Schlesinger” on the title page of part I. Ownership notation on the back flyleaf: “Moshe from the blessed offsprings of Shapiro”.

This rare and unknown edition does not appear in the Hebrew Book Bibliography, the National Library Catalog, or the Unified Catalog of Israeli Libraries. The earliest edition of this Sefer, printed in Sulzbach, which is listed in these sources, is from 1759, twenty six years later than this edition!

86; 73, [1] pp. Simple binding. Damaged front flyleaf, mostly missing. A few light damages and folds and tears. Good condition.
