'As if he had saved the entire world' a letter on matters of saving lives to the holy Rav Rabbi Shlomkeh of Zvhil with an addition to his grandson the holy Rav Rabbi Mordechai. Koretz, [1933].
A touching letter handwritten and signed by Reb Levi Karavacho of Koretz to the holy Rav Rabbi Shlomkeh of Zvhil with an addition to his grandson the holy Rav Rabbi Mordechai author of Yekara DeMalka.
The holy Rav of Zvhil immigrated and lived in Jerusalem. In this letter, the sender, Reb Levi Karavacho, one of the Rav's Chassidim, requests that the Rav help his parents who live under the Communist regime in Ukraine immigrate to Erezt Yisroel, thus saving them from the Holodomor, the Great Famine. During the Great Famine, approx. ten million people died of hunger in Ukraine and many believe that this was an intentional policy of the official communist regime headed by the dictator Joseph Stalin of 'death by mass starvation'.
The Chassid writes to the holy Rav that he received his encouraging and supporting letter and he asks him to act for his parents who love in Ukraine and are begging for food. To the Rav's beloved grandson, Rabbi Mordechai of Zvhil author of Yekara DeMalka, the son of the holy Rav Rabbi Gedalya Moshe, he writes that he asks him to appeal to the Gaon Rabbi Kook, referring the words of the Sages that 'Whoever saves one soul of Yisroel is considered as if he had saved the entire world'.
[1] leaf, official stationery of Beis Ulpena Ravta "Or Torah" that was established in Zvhil and moved to Koretz, 28 cm. Yiddish.
Fold marks, minor stains, filing holes, small blemishes to the perimeter of the leaf. Very good condition.
