Alexander Semenovich Tager (1888–1939) - lawyer and jurist, author of the monograph “Tsarist Russia and the Beilis Case.” The book was published to mark the 20th anniversary of the Beiliss trial; reprinted in 1934 and 1995. It convincingly proved that Beilis was not guilty, and that the ritual murder of which he was accused was an invention of the Black Hundreds.
Yuliy (Ioil-Ruvin) Rafailovich Bershadsky (January 9 (21), 1869, Tiraspol, Kherson province - September 27, 1956, Sverdlovsk) - Russian and Soviet painter and teacher, professor (1935), Honored Artist of the Ukrainian SSR (1941)
Anatoly Vasilyevich Lunacharsky (Russian: Анато́лий Васи́льевич Лунача́рский, born Anatoly Aleksandrovich Antonov; 23 November [O.S. 11 November] 1875 – 26 December 1933) was a Russian Marxist revolutionary and the first Bolshevik Soviet People's Commissar (Narkompros) responsible for the Ministry of Education as well as an active playwright, critic, essayist and journalist throughout his career.
The Beilis case is a trial on charges of Menachem-Mendel Beilis of the ritual murder of a 12-year-old preparatory class student at the Kiev-Sophia Theological School, Andrei Yushchinsky, on March 12, 1911.
The charge of ritual murder was initiated by activists of Black Hundred organizations and supported by a number of far-right politicians and officials, including Minister of Justice Ivan Shcheglovitov. Local investigators, who believed that this was a case of criminal revenge murder, were removed from the case. Four months after the discovery of Yushchinsky’s corpse, Beilis, who worked near this place at a factory as a clerk, was arrested as a suspect and spent two years in prison[1].
The trial took place in Kiev from September 23 to October 28, 1913[2][3][4] and was accompanied, on the one hand, by an active anti-Semitic campaign, and on the other, by public protests on an all-Russian and global scale. Beilis was acquitted. Researchers believe that the real killers were the buyer of stolen goods Vera Cheberyak and the criminals from her stash[1][5][6][7][8], but this question remained unresolved[9][10]. The Beilis case became the most high-profile trial in pre-revolutionary Russia
