Metal model, steel, Sten submachine gun including cartridge and carrying strap
The Sten is a British submachine gun, invented in World War II. In addition to the United Kingdom, it was also manufactured in large quantities in Canada and Israel. The Sten's simplicity of production and operation was unprecedented. The Sten was invented as a light weapon, which could be manufactured quickly and cheaply in the emergency conditions of World War II. The British desperately needed such a weapon, which could be issued to combat support units, parachute units and officers. In addition, the British wanted the weapon to fire ammunition 9 millimeters in diameter, in order to use ammunition taken from the Germans.
