'Mount Sinai' - Unique Monumental Silverwork by the Artist Georges Weil. England 1980.
Georges Weil was a talented, autodidact, most colorful artist. Collectors of Weil's works included Frank Sinatra, Sammy David Jr., Peter Sellers, Queen Elizabeth of England, and the Hollywood Queen - Elizabeth Taylor.
One art critic of the Illustrated London News, wishing to express his appreciation of Weil's work, went so far as to declare, “Fabergé objects, exquisite as they are, and superb as their workmanship is, are really no more than expensive toys – Weil’s pieces are works of art.”
Description of the work:
Unique, impressive artistic interpretation of Mount Sinai made by the artist Georges Weil. The sculpture is comprised of two distinct parts: the mountain (above) and a rectangular base (below) that serves also as a writing table.
Heavy (23 kg.) cast silver depicting Mount Sinai. At its feet, on the four walls of the base, scenes and motifs with accompanying inscriptions for the Jewish Festivals - Passover, Shavu'ot, Sukkot, Rosh Hashana, Yom Kippur and Sabbath.
A singular creation by the artist.
