Chamishah Chumshei Torah. Antwerp, 1572.
Chamishah Chumshei Torah and Five Megillot, with punctuation and cantillation marks ‘as per the command of the Chief of Bomberg’. A magnificent copy in absolute mint and complete condition.

One of the first books printed in Antwerp.

The printer, Christopher Plantin, was a most prominent 16th Century printer. He worked in conjunction with the famed Family Bomberg Printers, who originated from Antwerp.
Chapter markings were added to this issue. Verse numbers were added by hand in red ink. Similarly, page numbers were added by hand in red ink.
The complete 24 books of Tananch, without punctuation or cantillation marks. This edition has two columns per page. This unusual page layout is in accordance with the famed tradition that was bequeathed by disciples of disciples of the Gra to Rabbi Aryeh Levin. It is a layout that was used to perform ‘Goral HaGra’.
The first booklet includes numbers for each verse. However, from the second booklet onwards, only every fifth verse is marked with a number represented in letters.
A book about Yeshu, yemach shemo is appended to this copy.

388 leaves. 121 pages. 17 cm. Mint condition. The title page includes a decorative border. The first letter of each of the Five Megillot has an embellished border. Lovely margins, with gilt-edged pages.
