Sefer HaZichronot, Ten Chapters of Reminders to Fulfil Mitzvot Whose Practice Has Waned in Communities. Prague, circa. 1650.
First Edition. Rare.
Sefer HaZichronot, with matters that are relevant to young and old, in honor of G-d and His creations (by Rabbi Shmuel Abuhav). Prague, circa 1650. First and rare edition!
Stamps: “Beit HaMidrash Etz Chaim Ashkenazim in Amsterdam“.

Fundamental book authored by Rabbi Shmuel Abuhav. Printed anonymously, without mentioning the author’s name, place or year of printing.

In early 17th Century Italy, there was a laxity among laymen in adherence to important Halachic prohibitions. This book is divided into ten sections that deal with these challenges. It provides us an important, historical glimpse into the spiritual resoluteness and challenges that communities faced.

The author chose to publish his book anonymously, and therefore printed it in Prague, despite the easily accessible options of high-quality publishing available in Italy.

Prague 1650.
