Artistic renditions of Jewish ritual: [Yom Kippur] "The Great Day of Atonement: The Scene at a Synagogue"; print of painting by Isaac Snowman, on full page (491) of the 9 October 1897 issue of the British "The Illustrated London News" publication; full size: 27.4 x 39.5cm. Upper-left edge displays a few removal marks, light page-bends in the marginal areas; suitable for framing. Snowman (1873 - 1947) was a famous British-Jewish artist in his time, who emigrated to Palestine to continue his work; said to be one of Queen Mary's favorite artists; his older brother Jacob Snowman was a doctor and prominent mohel, who circumcised Charles, Prince of Wales.
