Background: Following the agreement in Munich in September 1938, the Czech Republic was dissolved. In the year 1941 new restrictions were implemented towards the Jews in Topoľčany. They were forced to wear yellow stars and required to report to forced labor. In the months from 03 -08 1942 many Jews were expelled from the town to the extermination camps of Majdanek and Auschwitz. The cemetery and synagauges in the city were destroyed. In the year 1945 there was a pogrom in the town where dozens of Jews who servived the Holocaust had returned to the city, after the Slovakians took over their properties and houses and treated them with much hostility. Following this no Jews were left in the city.
