The Admo"r, the 'Berech Moshe' of Satmar's Kapote

"For he has dressed me in a garment of salvation, has cloaked me in a coat of righteousness like a dignified bridegroom" (Yeshayahu 61:10)

The Admo"r Rabbi Moshe Teitelbaum, author of Berech Moshe of Satmar's silk kapote. Important holy item which belonged to the rabbi and leader of the largest Chassidic court in the world.

Regal kapote [overcoat] made of fine silk weave, bluish, with a floral pattern and silk lining, both also in blue tones. Used by the Admo"r and worn over many years on holidays, festivals and joyous occasions.

The Admo"r Rabbi Moshe Teitelbaum of Satmar [1914-2006] was born in Sighet, Romania, to his father, the author of Atzei Chaim of Sighet. On his mother's side, he was a great-grandson of Rabbi Chaim of Sanz and a descendant of Rabbi Shneur Zalman of Liadi. Rabbi Moshe was a disciple of his great uncle, the Admo"r Rabbi Yoelish of Satmar. He served as Av Beit Din in Hungary - in Senta and in Sighet. During the Holocaust, he was sent to Auschwitz with his entire family, and his wife and three children were murdered there. After the Holocaust, he immigrated to the United States. After the Admo"r of Satmar's passing (without children among the living), Rabbi Moshe was appointed his heir and successor - he was crowned the respected leader of Satmar Chassidim, and he brought the Chassidut to its peak. He also served as the president of the Edah Charedit in the Land of Israel.

Fine condition. Considerable use over many years. Stains (tobacco?). One button is lacking.

A signed confirmation is included on a picture of the kapote, attesting that this is the Admo"r of Satmar's kapote. There is also a picture of the Rebbe apparently wearing this very kapote.
