.Reb Yechezkel Borstein. Divrei Yechezkel. 8 Pages of Unpublished Torah Novella. Vaboilnik 1914. Extremely Rare!

A long letter of unpublished divrei Torah from Hagaon Hakadosh Rebbe Yechezkel Bernstein HY"D, Rosh Yeshivas "Ohr Yisroel" of Slabodka, and author of "Divrei Yechezkel" [Rebbe of Harav Shach & Harav Hutner ZT"L].

The letter was sent from Vabalninkas 1914, a short while after he married the daughter of Reb Aba Reuven Ash of Vabalninkas. The letter is addressed to Rabbi Yosef Yoselevitz, author of Minchas Yosef, and rav of Trestina [Reb Yechezkel's birthplace]. Reb Yechezkel describes the difficulty & struggle of a Yeshiva Bochur right after separating from his friends in Yeshiva. "…and especially in a small town in which I have no spiritual assistance …although Boruch Hashem I am sitting & learning, however my longing to my friends is tremendous…" The letter is 8 full pages LONG. Reb Yechezkel signs twice.

Rabbi Yechezkel Bernstein (1889-1941), was born in Trestina, a suburb of Bialystok, and learned in the Slabodka Yeshiva. Whilst there, he often went to hear the shiurim of R. Baruch Ber Leibowitz. Between the years 1918-1922, he served as a Ra”M in the Yeshiva established in Karilov by R. Avrohom Leib Schor, during which the two learned together. In 1922, he joined the famed Kovno Kollel. In 1923, The Alter of Slabodka and his son R. Moshe Finkel established Yeshivas Ohr Yisroel of Slabodka for younger students. R. Yechezkel was appointed as Ra”M and his shiurim attracted hundreds of students. His sefer was warmly received and remains a classic work learned in the Lithuanian Yeshivos. In 1941, R. Yechezkel was murdered by the Nazis at the infamous 9th Fort of Kovno.

2 large folded pages (8 sides). 13.5 by 21 cm. Very fine condition. Some staining and wear.
