“Keep this leaflet for future use. Bring it with you.” advises this trilingual pamphlet for newly arriving Jewish women and girls, landing in New York, Philadelphia, Baltimore, and Boston daily. Offering “greet[ings], welcome, friendly help, advice or information” of any sort to those in need, the Council of Jewish Women had been formed in 1893 for this purpose. Female immigrants are told that help is available immediately upon arrival in America by applying to women, such as Mrs. Betty Meirowitz at Ellis Island. English classes, job training, lodging, social evenings, recreation and advice for all sorts of hairy situations are offered. A firm warning against sex traffickers is given - the girls and women are urged to clarify with the Council of Jewish Women any situation that seems to good to be true.
