Historic Document: Touching Report from the Jewish Agency Regarding Activities of the Zionist Organization of the Shearit Hapleitah in Germany and Other Places
Document typed on the stationery of the "Sochnut HaYehudit L'Eretz Israel Machleket Aliya, " dated the 1st of Kislev, 1946, titled "From the Diaspora (taken from laws, calculations, memos, and letters regarding activities in the areas of aliyah and rescue in the Diaspora.)" It then reports about events in each country. It opens with a copy of a long letter sent from the "Zionist Organization, Unit of the Shearit Hapleitah in Germany, " that pleads for everyone to be united, despite the difference of opinions between them. It discusses at length the terrible suffering that they all went through together, which proves that they are all brothers to the same fate, despite their differences of opinion. Therefore, they emphasize that if the representatives of the Sochnut in Jerusalem come to them without this guiding principle, they will not find a listening ear. Followed by a survey of additional countries such as Bavaria, Austria, Steiermark, Czechoslovakia, Poland, Chile and a survey of the refugees' conditions. The letters convey the sharp longing for aliya to Eretz Israel as fast as possible. Size: 33x21 cm. 4 pages, fold marks, marginal tears, no blemishes to text, overall fine condition.
