Sefer Yesod: Levushei Sarad on Yoreh Deah. Chassidut. First Edition Printed During the Author's Lifetime – Mohilev, 1812. Glosses, Comments and Novellae and Prestigious Owner Notations.
Levushei Sarad on the Shulchan Aruch Yoreh Deah by Rabbi Dovid Shlomo Eibshitz. First edition printed during the author's lifetime – Mohilev, 1812. 102 leaves. Stefansky, Chassidut 256, Sifrei Yisod 189. Missing title page. Detached binding, without spine, restorations to the first leaf affecting text, many stains, light tears, overall moderate-fine condition. Throughout the book there are handwritten marginal comments and novellae, some long and significant – written soon after the book was printed. Some are faded and cropped and illegible. There are also revisions and comments in a script similar to that of the author, and our examination has verified that some of these corrections appear in later editions. Owner notations: יצחק אייזיק שו"ב שדה לבן – this is the son of Rabbi Dovid Halevi Kimelfeld (son of Rabbi Yitzchak Eizik of Chostov) av"d Vasilkov when Rabbi Dovid of Tolna lived in the city. The following notation appears a number of times in the book: מוה"ר מאיר הכהן דיין דשדה לבן. Owner stamp on binding: מענדיל מייזלש מו"צ ב"ק זלאטשוב. Additional notations on the endpapers and last page. Rabbi Menachem Mendel Dov Meisels (1845-1899) was the son of Rabbi Moshe Nachman of Stryj and brother-in-law of the Maharsham of Brzeżany, as he was the son-in-law of Rabbi Moshe Schwadron (father of the Maharsham). He served as Rabbi in Sdeh aevan and rav'd in Zlotchov [refer to Meorei Galicia section three]. He was a prominent Ruzhin – Sadigura chassid and he had an exceptional connection to the Saba Kadisha of Ruzhin.
