The Mishnayot which Belonged to the Admo"r of Alexander's Grandfather
Mishnayot Seder Moed, Vilna, 1888, with a signature in the hand of the Admo" r of Alexander's grandfather, Rabbi Menachem Mendel Sternberg of Dej. On the first title page and on the second title page, his signature appears several times: " Menachem Mendel, " " Menachem Mendel Sternberg, " and on the flyleaf, there is the inscription, " Belongs to the rabbi famous in all corners of the world, Rabbi Menachem Mendel of Dej who presently lives in Safed, " and also the stamp, " Menachem Mendel Sternberg of Dej."
The gaon Rabbi Menachem Mendel Sternberg: (1843-1916) studied Torah with the author of Ktav Sofer and with Rabbi Menachem Mendel Panet of Dej. He ascended to the Land of Israel and settled in Safed.
