A large group photograph showing Ottoman police officers of the 'District Traffic superintendet' with their commanders. Jerusalem [?] 1910s.


The photograph is noticeable the 'Kuplak' on the head of some police officers. during the First World War a number of Ottoman army units, whose soldiers wore Kulpak - a cylindrical cap made of thick wool, with triangular stitched sides. Later, the hat was also used by the British police, as well as the Jewish notaries. On the left Hebrew inscription 'Buffet'. The sign on the right Hanging on the wall has the caption 'District Traffic superintendent' in three languages: Hebrew, Arabic and English.

Size: 30x23 cm. Slight crack to left. Good - very good condition.
