Collection of photographs from the establishment of the Gan Yavne colony in the 1930s

16 photographs documenting the first settlers in Gan Yavne.

The photos show the children of the Gan Yavne school alongside their educator, workers in the orchard, the first settlement families and more.

Gan Yavne was founded as a colony in 1931 on land purchased by members of Ahuza A. New York. - A company founded by Jewish families from Russia, Poland and Central Europe who emigrated to the United States. It was decided to call it that name because of its proximity to the historic city of Yavne, although the locality does not border it. At the end of the purchase process, eight families arrived. Since the people of Estate A were urban without any knowledge of agriculture, they joined the members of the "Nuclear Tel Hai Core", a nucleus of pioneering socialist people, founded by Joseph Trumpeldor. In the past, about 80% of its area was covered with orchards. With the establishment of the state, There were about 400 residents in Gan Yavne.

Average size: 9x6 cm. Some of them are larger. Some of the photos have been removed from an album and have ripped marks on their backs. Very good condition.
