"The Tragedy of Slovak Jewry." Bratislava, 1949

The Tragedy of Slovak Jewry. Pictures and documents, published by the Documentation Institute of the Union of Bratislavian Communities. Bratislava, 1949.

The book reviews anti-Semitism in Chechoslovakia from the start of the 19th century. It is replete with anti-Semitic posters and documents, photos of atrocities done to the Jews (difficult to view), forced labor, SS units in action, destruction of the synagogues, local Jews with the yellow star, death trains, selections, death pits, dead bodies hanging, photos of the liberating armies, and refugees.

In the lengthy preface written in Hebrew and English, the publisher thanks the Freed Czechoslovakian government, the Ministry of Justice, and the Jewish Museum in Prague for allowing them access to important documents and original photos which allowed them to publish the matter.

142 [5] pages. Front paper cover with tears at edges. The paper cover is missing on the back of the book. Spine tears in the supporting fabric.
