Roman Provincial Macedon Philippi ancient AE Semis coin; RPC I 1651; GVF/EF
Roman Provincial coinage > Macedon > Philippi, pseudo-autonomous issue in period of Claudius or Nero, circa AD 41-68: AE Semis (19.5 x 20mm, 4.6g); Nike standing on broad base facing left, holding wreath and palm & legend on either side VIC AVG / three military standards & legend on 3 sides [COHOR] PRAE PHIL . Reference: RPC I 1651; GVF/EF, clear strike rarely seen with dotted border intact, although a little off-center on both sides; smooth glossy greenish-brown patina; coin alignment.
