A lengthy and interesting letter by Rabbi Yehuda Leib Don-Yichye to his disciple Rabbi Mordechai Shmuel Krol was found inside the booklet. Chernigov, 1933. In the letter Rabbi Yehuda Leib, Don-Yichye relates personal details of his exile in Russia, he presents Divrei Halacha and Pilpul [in-depth study], and mentions Rabbi Avraham Yitzchak HaCohen Kook, Rabbi Yitzchak Nissenbaum, Rabbi Ya'akov Ha-Cohen, who was brother-in-law of Rabbi Yehuda Leib, and more.
Rabbi Mordechai Shmuel Karol (1899-1945) served in the rabbinate of Zorovitz and Novogord. In 1932, he immigrated to Eretz Israel and was respected as rabbi of Kfar Chassdim until his death. [His son-in-law, Rabbi Eliyahu Eliezer Mishkovsky, succeeded him in the rabbinate of Kfar Chassidim].
Rabbi Yehuda Leib Don-Yichye (1869-1942) authored Bikurei Yehuda, was a Chassid of Chabad, and among the prominent disciples of Rabbi Chaim of Brisk in the Volozhin Yeshiva. Married the daughter of Rabbi Shlomo HaCohen of Vilna, author of Cheshek Shlomo. Served in the rabbinate of his father in Shklov and Drissisa. In 1925 was appointed to the Chernigov Rabbinate, and in 1936 immigrated to Eretz Israel. Rabbi Mordechai Shmuel Krol considered him his prominent rabbi, he edited and published his writings, and assisted him in his immigration to Eretz Israel. The two were buried side by side upon the Mount of Olives.
Booklet [20] leaves + 8 page letter by Rabbi Don-Yichye. Approx. 22 cm. Good-fair condition. Stained and worn. Detached leaves without binding.
