Teshuvot HaRashb"a Attributed to the Ramba"n. Venice, 1519. First Edition. Glosses
Teshuvot She'elot L'Rabbeinu Moshe bar Nachman ztz"l, 288 questions with responsa [mistakenly] attributed to the Ramba"n. Daniel Bomberg press.
Responsum 284 opens with the words, "This responsum which the Ramba"n, z"l, responded to R' Yonah ..." was the one which led to the mistake of referring to this book as Shu"t HaRamba"n. However, it is in fact the only responsum in the entire book which is brought in the name of the Ramba"n, and the rest are by Rabbi Shlomo ben Aderet, the Rashb"a. There is a slight hint to this in the words of the proofreader which appear on the back of the title page, where he writes that there are responsa "which strangers passed through, such as the Rashb"a." Indeed, Rabbi Yosef Karo determined this conclusively in the renowned introduction to his great work, Beit Yosef, in which he clearly writes that these responsa are by the Rashb"a "and it is written at their beginning that they are the Ramba"n's responsa."
There are several glosses from various periods, locations and writers, some from the time of the printing. Menachem Mendel Eckstein's embossed seal is on the title page: "מאוצר המכר - מנחם מענדל עקשטיין," as well as an owner's signature. Additional owners' notations appear on the last page.
[95] leaves. 22 cm. Quality paper. Colorful page edges. (A. M. Haberman, HaMadpis Daniel Bombergi - 10)
Very fine condition. Minimal, light aging stains. Small worming perforations in several leaves, some distance from the text. Half-leather binding with old marble paper.
