"Nodah B'Yehuda" – Signatures and Scholarly Glosses by Rabbi Avraham Shag, Rabbi Avraham Frishtadt, Rabbi Shaul Rosenberg and Rabbi Amram Rosenberg
"Nodah B'Yehuda" responsa, Vol. 1-2. [Zholkva], 1823. Signatures of various owners: Rabbi "Avraham Frishtadt"; "Avraham Shag"; "Zvi Hirsh Rabbi of Tertsal"; Rabbi "Shaul Rosenberg Rabbi of Ratzfert" and his son "Rabbi Amram Rosenberg".
Many scholarly glosses: Some in the handwriting of Rabbi Avraham Shag [who signed some of the glosses, see Gloss on Leaf 26/2], some in the handwriting of Rabbi Avraham Frishtadt [first owner of the book], and some glosses were written and signed by Rabbi Shaul Rosenberg and his sons Rabbi Avraham and Rabbi Mordechai Rosenberg. On the forsatz leaves are various inscriptions in the handwriting of Rabbi Zvi Hirsh Rabbi of Tertsal, who bought the book from Rabbi Avraham Shag Rabbi of Kobersdorf who left for Eretz -Yisrael.
Rabbi Avraham Shag-Zwebner (1801-1873), an outstanding disciple of the Chatam Sofer and a prominent Torah scholar in his times. Lived in Frauenkirchen [mentioned in his signature]. From 1827, served in the Shattelsdorf rabbinate and from 1852 as Rabbi of Kobersdorf. In 1873, he ascended to Jerusalem together with his great disciple Rabbi Yosef Chaim Zonnenfeld.
Rabbi Avraham Frishtadt (died 1830), disciple of Rabbi Meshulam Igra of Pressburg, from 1803 served as Rabbi of Komarin. The Chatam Sofer held him in great esteem and corresponded with him (see "Ishim B'Tshuvot Chatam Sofer", page 30).
Rabbi Zvi Hirsh Rosenberg Rabbi of Tertsal and Bater, succeeded his father, Rabbi Mordechai Rosenberg as Rabbi of Tertsal (disciple of Rabbi Avraham Shag) in 1875. At the end of his days, served in the Pest rabbinate.
His brother Rabbi Shaul ben Rabbi Mordechai Rosenberg (1865-1939), disciple of the Maharam Shick and author of" Kol Aryeh". In 1904, succeeded his stepfather Rebbe Naftali Hirtzka Frankel as Rabbi of Ratzfert. A prominent Hungarian rabbi, he had many disciples. From his youth he was a "Chassid" attached to Rabbi Zvi Hirsh of Liska and one of the greatest "Chassidim" of Rebbe Yissachar Dov of Belz. His remaining novellae were printed in the two volumes of the book "Chemdat Shaul" (Jerusalem, 1969 and Jerusalem, 1984). His son Rabbi Amram Rosenberg succeeded his father in 1940 as Rabbi of Razfert and perished in the Holocaust in 1944.
