1. Chaliastre, Ershter Almanach [Chaliastre, First Almanac]. Leitung: Perets Markish, Y.Y. Zinger. Warsaw: Chaliastre, 1922. Yiddish.
First booklet of the almanac "Chaliastre". The almanac includes poems by Uri Zvi Greenberg, Peretz Markish, Melech Ravitch, Avraham Leyeles (member of the New York "In Zich" group), and others. Aside from these, it also contains an article by Yosef Tchaikov, titled "Sculpture". The almanac includes an illustration by Yitzchak Broyner for a poem by Moshe Broderzon and two illustrations by Marc Chagall, prepared for a poem cycle by David Hofstein.
70, [2] pp, 28.5 cm. Good condition. Bound in hard binding with original cover. The cover is torn with restored margins. Adhesive tape between the front cover and the first leaf and between the back cover and the last leaf. Some creases and stains to text-block (most of the leaves are clear). Stains to first and last pages.
2. Chaliastre 2. Leitung: Peretz marksih, Ozer Varshavsky. Paris: chalistre, 1924. Yiddish.
Second booklet of the almanac "Chaliastre", published in Paris. This booklet includes reproductions of works by Marc Chagall, who also designed the cover. On the cover (and on p. 74) Chagall depicted the occupation of Paris by the group of Jewish writers and poets: they are shown climbing the Eiffel Tower, one of them hoisting a flag with the inscription "Paris" in Yiddish, another carrying to the top of the tower scrolls reminiscent of Torah scrolls, inscribed with the word "Chaliastre". Printed in 1000 copies.
84 pp + [4] plates, 23.5 cm. Good condition. Foxing. Uneven edges. Lower corners missing from some leaves and open tear to last leaf (without damage to text). Tears to cover (wrapped in protective sheet - torn and damaged).
