Two handwritten personal postcards written by the famous artist, Menkes, sent to Gabriel Talphir, an Israeli poet, art critic, publisher, editor and translator. He was one of the founders of Gazith literary and art magazine.

Sigmund Menkes (1896-1986) was an acclaimed Jewish expressionist painter. Born in Lvov, he studied and lived in Krakow, Berlin, Paris and eventually New York.  His final wish before he passed in 1986 was to have his ashes scattered in Israel.
