Twenty-four postcards with photographs of residents of Morocco and other countries of the Near East, most of them Jews. Various publishers and printing locations, ca. the early decades of the 20th century.
The postcards include: Rabbis of the city of Mogador (today Essaouira) on their way to congratulate the king of Morocco; women in the cemetery in Tétouan (Morocco); postcards with photographs of the Jewish cemeteries in Fez and Marrakesh; a donkey pulling a deadcart between two columns of a military honor guard at a formal funeral in Casablanca; an undivided postcard with an image of two Jews carding cotton in Jerusalem; a real photo postcard – Jews in Algeria sitting on the ground in front of a wall inscribed with Hebrew characters (Judeo-Arabic?); a color postcard with a photograph of the seashore in Algeria; and more.
Two of the postcards are undivided. On the back of some of the postcards are handwritten notes (in French) and a stamp. A few postcards have ink stamps and postage stamps on the front.
Enclosed: A photograph of Rabbi Meir Abuhatzeira, stamped on the back: "Photo Aryeh, Netanya."
24 postcards, arranged in a designated album. Size and condition vary. Average size: approx. 14 x 9 cm. Overall good condition. Minor blemishes. Size of album: approx. 17 cm.
